About Me

I’m Jacqui and I don’t know what I’m doing with this blog. Or with anything really.
I am a student of the Ashtanga Vinyasa style of yoga.

Before yoga I was into traditional fitness like weightlifting and HIIT training. I used to try going to a yoga class once a week or so to help release some of the tightness and soreness I felt after training so hard all the time. During the classes. I felt pretty clumsy and inflexible. I had the tightest hamstrings of anyone outside the rugby world and I couldn’t even touch my toes at the age of 23!  I guess I liked yoga, but I never felt like I could do anything properly. But it seemed important. One day,  I stumbled across a teacher and a style of yoga that I actually connected with. Everything changed! My life began to flourish as my practice grew, and I knew that I needed to share this with others.

Now I’m beginning to teach yoga in my hometown of Newcastle, NSW. I always knew I needed to be some kind of teacher – but for someone who doesn’t really like kids or the government, the education system seemed like the wrong fit. I mess up a lot still, and I’m sometimes nervous – but being a dedicated student myself, I try to be the teacher that I would want!

My goal is to to teach with a sense of humour and positivity which I inherited from my teachers. I want to make yoga accessible and fun to even the least flexible beginner, because I’m still a part of that club!

I hope to see you at one of my classes or contact me here.
